While Disney has made no announcement of a new Epcot
, anyone who has not visited the park in a few years will find a few new, exciting and unexpected treats at Epcot.
Epcot was developed as a hands-on educational wonderland and has evolved into a family entertainment mecca. With additions such as Soarin' and Phineas and Ferb's interactive adventure, Epcot has become more family friendly, creating an environment that allows families to interact while enjoying the Disney environment.
Disney's Phineas & Ferb: Agent P's World Showcase Interactive Adventure actually puts you in the center of the action. With Agent P on vacation, your family becomes the go-to agents to stop Dr. Doofenshmirtz. As a Secret Agent, you are issued a cell phone that gives you clues to follow in the Epcot country of your choice. The whole family can enjoy this 20 minute adventure as you follow the clues from your favorite Disney cartoon. With Agent stations all around Epcot's World Showcase, there is a very little wait to start your adventure.
Disney adds to the family fun in Epcot with the always popular character greetings, as well as new Kidcot Stations, where kids can color and create a special souvenir from each country. This is a great spot to take a break and allow kids a few minutes to rest while keeping them occupied.
The Soarin' ride is every bit as good as it looks. While it is well worth the wait, grab a fast pass to skip out on the hour plus wait that you will likely encounter at this attraction. The realistic feeling of hang-gliding over the wonders of California is a refreshing change from the common thrill rides found in other theme parks.
An added bonus in the Epcot park is the Aquarium. As part of the Nemo & Friends attraction, Epcot's aquarium boasts one of the largest manmade ocean environments in the world. From sharks to stingrays, Epcot's aquarium offers a peaceful place for families to cool off and explore Nemo's underwater world.
Michael Jackson fans will be thrilled to hear of the return of Captain EO. Disney plays Jackson's intergalactic adventure as it was first seen in 1986.
While today's Epcot differs greatly from Walt Disney's original vision
and even from the Epcot that opened in 1982, your family will be happy it does. Perhaps it's time to visit Orlando and rediscover Disney's Epcot theme park.
