Road Trips to Orlando on the Rise
With gas prices slowly declining, families are getting back on the road this Summer. The AAA Auto Club projected that 34.8 million Americans would travel 50 miles or more from home during the Memorial Day weekend alone. That number is an increase of 1.2 percent from the 34.3 million Americans who AAA estimates took a trip for Memorial Day in 2011 and gives a good insight into the 2012 Summer travel season. Each spring we clean out our closets, dust the windows and put the screens back on. At Oak Plantation Resort it's just a little different. Our resort is going though a whole new re-birth. As you may know after reading our previous post, we are experiencing a huge renovation starting with our kiddie pool and deck area. Many of you know Florida offers year round fun in the sun. What’s all the Buzz about at Oak Plantation Resort?
Could it be because it's spring and the birds are chirping, the flowers are blooming, and baby peacocks are hatching at Oak Plantation? Well perhaps, however, there is also some buzz that Oak Plantation Resort has finalized its plans for a renovation on 88 units! The renovation expected to be completed this summer, has everyone talking. The new sofas and chairs are in production and we can't wait for their arrival this summer! Warmest of Welcomes
Please join us in welcoming our newest additions. One of our resident Peacocks, Mother Theresa, just hatched her eggs! We recently told you of the impending arrival. Mother Theresa had 6 eggs. As of Thursday, April 19, 5 hatched. Mom is very protective right now (as you can imagine). But we were able to capture a few candid shots of the little ones and the proud mommy. Please help us name our little ones. As we noted in the last blog post, please keep in mind the first letter in each of our Peacocks names together spells out Oak Plantation Resort. We Are Expecting!
Here at Oak Plantation we have a beautiful family of Peacocks: Oliver, Abigail, Katia, Piper, Leo, Antoinette, Nestor, and Theresa. They have been with us for nearly 6 years. This spring their numbers are growing. One of our female peacocks, Theresa (now known as Mother Theresa) has been tending her nest with 6 eggs. A mother peacock typically lays anywhere between 4 and 6 eggs. So this is a large lot! Theresa started nursing her nest at the end of March. A typical incubation is 28 days.
